Stories of Italian Living: Introduction

If you’ve ever dreamed of buying a home or living abroad, this series is for you.

Welcome to Stories of Italian Living — a collection of real journeys by real people from all over the world who followed their hearts to Italy.

Some came in search of a holiday home. For others, it was the start of a permanent chapter. A few intended to stay just part-time, then never left. Others settled in for a couple of years before deciding Italy wasn’t quite right for them. These are deeply personal stories — each one shaped by unique motivations and unexpected discoveries.

They come from all walks of life: Engineers, doctors, software developers, interior designers, entrepreneurs, inventors, broadcasters, artists, and writers.

Some had long corporate careers; others built creative or independent lives. What unites them is a shared longing — for something beautiful, meaningful, or simply different.

Some are of Italian descent, returning to ancestral roots. Others are drawn by the beauty, the adventure, the slower pace. Some come for the climate, the food, the people, the culture — or the surprisingly affordable cost of living.

But all of them came with a vision of something more — a new way of living, a new rhythm, a new chapter. And each of them has left their mark — not just on their homes, but on the lives they’ve built within them.

This project is not only about relocation. It’s about transformation.

It’s about the search, the purchase, the renovation, and the joy of creating a space that reflects who you are — often for the first time in your life. It’s about the interiors they’ve imagined, the beauty they’ve restored, the gardens they’ve planted, and the memories they’ve begun to make.

These homes are not just places. They are meeting grounds — where friends, family, and love gather.

Each story will feature professional photography — showcasing the interiors, the landscapes, and the details that make these homes so special. You’ll discover stunning renovations, thoughtful design, and personal touches that reflect the soul of each homeowner. From centuries-old apartments in ancient towns and cities, to grand palazzi, lovingly restored farmhouses, classic Italian ville, and even newer builds — each one has been transformed into a dream escape. These are homes that tell stories: of adventure, vision, and the quiet joy of creating beauty in a place that speaks to the heart.

As for me, I’ve also written a new chapter. After years of working full-time in Toronto, we bought our first home in Italy in 2013. When we left our executive roles, we made the leap — settling in central Italy and restoring a larger home with a small olive grove. That experience gave birth to Venture4th, a design showroom, studio, and shop where I help others bring their visions to life. We offer handpicked furnishings, custom cabinetry, antiques, and restoration services — and I invite you to explore that side of the story as well.

If you're dreaming of a life abroad, or already living one, I hope this series will offer inspiration, encouragement, and beauty.
