The figure is modelled with taut musculature and dramatic movement, evoking the Romantic Neoclassical fascination with classical myth and athletic idealism. The pedestal is richly decorated with acanthus leaves, beading, palmettes, and arabesque motifs, raised on a quadripartite base with claw feet.
