A rare and theatrical set of four hand-carved chairs with exuberant naturalistic detail, reputedly from Villa Farnese. The deeply carved frames are entwined with ribbon, foliage, and branch motifs, creating a sculptural silhouette. The shaped backs feature embossed leather panels with a fleur-de-lis motif, surrounded by studded borders, and the seats are upholstered in original brown leather. The cabriole legs terminate in stylized paw feet and are joined by heavily carved aprons.
